Gran Meliá Puerto Rico featured in Lifetime TV movie

Rio Grande, Puerto Rico – Gran Melia Puerto Rico Golf Resort & Villas was featured in a 90-minute prime-time movie called “Christmas in Paradise” on Lifetime Television Network scheduled to air nationally at 9 p.m. on December 15.

Filming of the Christmas-themed movie at the resort took 10 days during the month of September; but, the movie production team spent six weeks in Puerto Rico also featuring scenes from Old San Juan.

Resort locations showcased in “Christmas in Paradise” included the front desk, Avenue Bar (lobby bar), main lagoon-style swimming pool, YHI Spa, Oceanfront Royal Service Junior Suites and Oceanfront Presidential Villa.

Ken Dittrich, managing director of Gran Meliá Puerto Rico Golf Resort & Villas, indicated that “filming the Lifetime Television movie was a great opportunity to introduce the new attributes of the Gran Melia brand to millions of viewers. “Christmas in Paradise” is a movie designed to capture the distinctive spirit of Puerto Rico during the holiday season. The story plot involves two families from the northeastern coast of the United States who take a Christmas cruise in the Caribbean and arrive in Puerto Rico to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas day on the Island.

The main cast of “Christmas in Paradise” is Colin Ferguson, Charlotte Ross (NYPD Blues) and Nickelodeon stars Josie Lopez, Kenton Duty, Aria Wallace and Devon Werkheise.

Typically, Lifetime Television’s Christmas movies average over 3 million viewers per airing. In addition, “Christmas in Paradise” will be distributed in television markets around the world, most prominently in Western Europe.
